VoIP South Africa: Goldfish in a sandbox, A successful VoIP deployment approach

When deploying VoIP in South Africa (extremely successful in a number of South African organisations), its best to consider the big picture e.g. distribution across different locations (local or internationally) and the benefits that you need e.g. cnvenience of being reachable anywhere on one number, moving extensions without costly infrastructure moves or additions, multiple numbers to be reached at carrying one mobile phone (without the clumsy concept of dual SIMs), global roaming for your staff at competitive rates, management of your staff by using a telephone management system (TMS) etc.

Now back to the goldfish sandbox implementation - can we achieve this in real life? No, however we strive to when deploying certain types of VoIP solutions in South Africa (we always consider the big picture of wants and needs however revert to the sandbox thinking for component solution releases).....the older and long time concept of MPLS comes to heart....its like a fax machine that never goes away.

And with today's announcement of the stall in interconnection reduction due to tussles between ICASA South Africa and the operators....I would'nt hold my breath....I'll leave that to the GoldFish. This conclusion will only support the proliferation of VoIP South Africa and I'll leave that to you to answer why?

If we have the same degree of underspend on Mobile infrastructure as we do for roads, then I would applaud the fax machine sandboxed approach toward solution implementation, however simple this may seem....it works.
