India is largely dependent on import for telecom equipment. Dometic production of the same has been negligible as compared to imports. Chinese and European companies, leveraging on this deficiency, are catering to the needs of the country with wide range of telecom equipment products (http://www.bharatbook.com/market-research-report/mobile-a...) at competitive price points.
However, the Government of India has realized the essentiality of domestic production of telecom equipment and hence has come up with a number of policies and perks to enhance the same in the country. Apart from allowing 100% FDI for telecom equipment manufacturing, the government is also setting up telecom centers of excellence across India to promote domestic manufacturing. In 2012, the Union Cabinet approved INR 100 bn as financial support for the development of electronic manufacturing clusters while recently, additional INR 100 bn was approved to promote large scale manufacturing in India. This presents the best time for mobile accessory companies to establish manufacturing units in India. On the export front, India is gradually picking up pace, principally with export of mobile handsets.
Rapid growth in telecom subscriber base, and introduction of 3G and 4G induces telecom equipment requirements across the country. With rising usage of 3G services and adoption of 4G technology, the need of telecom equipment will only rise as service providers enhance their capability to handle more users and service requests from across the country and beyond.
Furthermore, IPv4 to IPv6 migration is being carried-out in phases which require service providers across India to adopt IPv6 compliant telecom equipment. Significant demand for telecom equipment will be created by the same in the coming years as service providers and stakeholders embrace the new internet protocol to achieve compatibility.
Foreign telecom equipment companies, however face heat from Indian security agencies over probabilities of threats from their products. This, however, creates opportunity for telecom equipment companies having manufacturing facilities in India.

Initially designed as a Board faucet high-density network for monitoring applications, the SplitLight offers up to 192 (96 full-duplex) passive optical taps in only 1RU, making carriers, data centers, and enterprises to save important rack space compared to other traditional and existing solutions. M2 optics, however, wanted to expand on their unique packaging concept to address additional, related applications be able.
"While the SplitLight a great solution is when a network tap shelf to organizations that work with high fiber counts meet, we saw a chance to make the value with the inclusion of additional features to further improve," States Kevin Miller, VP of Marketing at M2 sales & optics. "Offer our clients the option of WDM components for wavelength filtering applications or multiple PON splitters for capacity building in the least amount of space, it means that they are now different scenarios with a single solution. Eventually, this minimizes costs and rack space usage, two critical areas of reimbursement for any network operator. "
While the SplitLight is unique in that it offers a solution for CWDM/DWDM connectivity and network taps, PON applications in only 1RU, it is even more attractive because it can greatly be adapted to the specific needs of each user, resulting in maximum efficiency. Adjustment of many manufacturers often results in significantly higher costs (if offered at all) and long cycle times. However has held to a core value of the M2 Optics company to cost-competitive by the positioning of the SplitLight regardless of the application.

Lower Costs – All businesses have an Internet connection and those that haven’t converted to VoIP also pay for phone lines separately. With a VoIP system, businesses can eliminate the traditional phone line and condense onto one network. VoIP services typically offer unlimited minutes and cheap long-distance rates. The reduced costs of VoIP communications save money especially if long distance calls are the norm. A huge benefit also exists for businesses with multiple locations as the long distance charges for calling between locations are eliminated.
Unified Communications – Unified Communications (http://www.4atc.com/voip-unified-communications/) is, according to UCStrategies, communications strategies integrated to optimize business processes. It’s the ability to integrate your VoIP phone service with other communication tools such as instant messaging, email, conferencing, and other business applications including your CRM. For example, with unified communications you can have voicemail messages emailed to you directly. Gone are the days of repeatedly calling into the office to see if messages are waiting.
Productivity – Your VoIP phone system can be used on your mobile phones and other “smart” technologies. As long as you have an Internet connection, you can use your VoIP application or service wherever. This is a huge benefit to business travelers and employees who are assigned to the field. With the accessibility and flexibility that VoIP offers, these road warriors can get in touch with customers faster and easier. What makes VoIP more convenient is that you also get advanced features when you set it up. As a result, there are more opportunities to make connections and create sales. VoIP will help you respond promptly to business partners, customers and employees, thereby avoiding any communication delays. Most VoIP features include caller ID, voicemail, call waiting, three-way calling, call forwarding, and many more (see Unified Communications).
Your telecom costs are likely a significant line item within your budget. Coincidentally, this line item is prime for cost reduction and improved productivity. The costs associated with VoIP keep getting lower and the service continuously improves. There are dozens of VoIP providers to choose from. VOIP offers SMBs lower telecom costs, more productivity, and a chance to take customer service to the next level.
The important thing in “Switching to VoIP” is to seek out a channel partner (http://www.4atc.com/contact/one-line-does-it-all/) who can provide the guidance, support and consultation for proper integration. A partner such as this lives in the business and is solution-agnostic with no bias toward one vendor or another. They can properly determine your requirements and design your system based on business objectives. Your partner will understand the vendor landscape and can help you select the appropriate technologies, putting into place suitable contracts at the best price. Most SMBs don’t have telecom-dedicated IT resources. That’s why the proper partner will also deliver and deploy your solutions, train users, and provide ongoing service and support.

The report, “Opening the Lines: A Call for Transparency from Governments and Telecommunications Companies,” illustrates the types of requirements telecommunications companies face and explores how they can respond to them in ways that respect human rights. Informed by case study review of the laws and regulations governing telecommunications companies in the European Union, and at the national level in Russia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, the report shows that the risks to free expression and privacy in the sector are not limited to the United States.
“Governments pursuing legitimate responsibilities for national security and law enforcement face real challenges, but as the worldwide reaction to communications surveillance by the U.S. government makes clear, the necessity and proportionality of surveillance measures are far from resolved,” said GNI Executive Director Susan Morgan. “It’s time for telecommunications companies to demonstrate their commitments to the rights of their users wherever they operate.”
The report, authored by Chris Tuppen, senior partner of Advancing Sustainability LLP and the former Chief Sustainability Officer at BT, makes specific recommendations around how to increase transparency. “Telecommunications companies seeking to mitigate their human rights risks have an opportunity to work with governments and other stakeholders to increase transparency in a number of areas, particularly volume of requests made and complied with,” says Tuppen.
The report was commissioned prior to GNI entering into a two-year collaboration with eight global companies in the Telecommunications Industry Dialogue on Privacy and Freedom of Expression, and is not endorsed by the Industry Dialogue companies.
Responding to the report Patrik Hiselius, Senior Advisor at TeliaSonera and current Chair of the Industry Dialogue, said: “The Industry Dialogue welcomes GNI’s first report on telecommunications and freedom of expression. The report will help different stakeholders understand the complex operating environment of telecommunications companies and sheds light on some of the challenges in defining the boundaries of responsibility regarding freedom of expression within our sector. We look forward to working together, and with the GNI and its members, to further promoting informed debate and practical solutions to these challenges.”

The PRIMUX-RDSW Redundancy Switch immediately restores all connections between users and servers if the main PRIMUX VGA KVM Matrix Switch needs to be taken down for service. The position of a rocker switch on the unit determines which Matrix Switch is used. With dual redundant AC power, the unit will automatically, without interruption, switch over to the second power source if the first power source fails. These safeguards are ideal for broadcasting applications where downtime is measured in seconds.
The unit comes with female RJ45 input and output connectors. Up to 1,000 feet of CATx cable can separate the Host Adapters from the User Stations, including the longest length of cable between the Redundancy Switch and either of the Matrix Switches for flexible installations. The PRIMUX-RDSW supports the PRIMUX-8X32 and PRIMUX-16X64 VGA KVM Matrix Switches via CAT5, and all connected PRIMUX-UZR User Stations and Servers (connected using host adapters).
The PRIMUX VGA KVM Matrix Switch via CAT5 provides non-blocking access for up to 16 simultaneous users to up to 64 servers. The switch frees up valuable space by eliminating large KVM switchboxes and bulky hard-to-manage coax cables. Servers are discovered as they are powered up, and can be accessed immediately by authorized users. Platform-specific host adapters support a variety of host connections, which include PS/2, USB, SUN and Serial. Featuring video resolutions to 1920x1440, the unit automatically adjusts video quality to compensate for varying lengths of CATx cable. The VGA KVM Matrix Switch is an excellent solution for high-density server environments and the Redundancy Switch diminishes downtime.

“We had several older Nortel phone systems throughout the county and even a few NEC systems,” explained J. Ryan Wall, Information Systems Director for the County. “It was a hodgepodge with different vendors managing each department. I.T. would call us to work on their varied systems but we were unable to help them because we didn’t have the qualifications.”
Wall began to investigate vendors in the county to explore a unified communication solution that would help the county simplify the management of their phone system and reduce costs. After speaking with many of his colleagues, Wall decided to reach out to recommended reseller Gibson Teldata, a leading Mitel phone system provider that specializes in solution-driven communication products.
“Gibson is top notch,” commented Wall. “It is one of the reasons we went with them, especially after I talked with other customers they have worked with. If I have a question, they have been good about getting right back to me with an answer.”
“Huntington County had an older Nortel solution in three physical facilities that was no longer meeting their needs,” described Dorothy Jones, Senior Account Executive at Gibson. “We installed a new Mitel UC Solution that included wireless solutions and voicemail. With this, we were able to consolidate all of their trunking services and get that down to two PRIs.”
In addition to standardizing the phone systems among the offices with a core Mitel Solution, Huntington needed a call accounting solution that would allow them to look at assessments using account codes and to pull auditing reports on those assessments. Jones suggested OfficeWatch Telemanagement which would eliminate the department’s need to manually extract costs from their phone bill to break down charges by internal departments.
“Metropolis’ OfficeWatch is one of our primary call accounting systems,” Jones added. “Among our choices, it is easier to work with, easier to upgrade, and the package is easy to implement.”
OfficeWatch Telemanagement integrates seamlessly into the Mitel 3300 phone system to enable businesses to gain insight into call patterns, telecom costs, and phone abuse within the organization. In addition to over 200+ reporting templates, the telemanagement solution includes rate tables to easily associate costs with the calls, improving budgeting and departmental accountability for government clients.
“It has been a cost savings for us,” claimed Wall, who cited an almost 67% cost savings after the system installation. “OfficeWatch is able to break down our long distance bill which is the variable cost we couldn’t get our hands on. In times when tax rate funding in Indiana is limited by numerous factors, now the individual departments can pay for only what they need and use. The county general fund was paying over $3,000 per month originally and after the project was completed to include breakouts in OfficeWatch, it will drive us down to only $995 per month.”
Wall concluded, “I have and will continue to recommend Gibson whenever I have the opportunity. And I would wholeheartedly recommend OfficeWatch as well.”

Perseus has operated the fastest market-to-market network connection between New York and Brazil from the datacenters of Nasdaq OMX and the BM&F Bovespa for almost two years while working tirelessly to enhance performance. Dozens of companies within financial markets including exchanges, banks, brokers, high frequency traders, market data and order management vendors have all found advantageous opportunities with accelerated speed over this unique Perseus network.
Customers have selected Perseus Telecom for the fastest connections from Chicago to New York, New York to Brazil, New York to London, London to Frankfurt and with other key market-to-market connections. Moreover, Perseus customers rely on best-in-class speed to market backed by a performance driven “Walk-Away” Service Level Agreement (SLA).
The Perseus SLA is a standard for all customers allowing them to enjoy the benefit of having one contract to negotiate the lowest latency routes with a given expectation that as a lower latency solution becomes available, the customer will benefit from the service enhancement at no extra charge.
Andrew Kusminsky, Chief Operating and Strategy Officer at Perseus said, “Optimizing our network to and within Brazil in an effort to keep our commitment to our customers is a part of a daily regimen for our team. We are committed to ensuring our network meets the performance requirements our customers demand.”
Brazil continues to surge in appeal for high performance trading from foreign institutions in the US, Europe and Asia participating in the markets of the BM&F Bovespa exchange. Financial markets are a major part of Brazil’s attraction for low-latency networks, but as Brazil hosts the world’s main attractions FIFA World Cup 2014 and the Rio de Janerio Olympics in 2016, there is increasing need to serve BIG data, real-time broadcast and digital media add to the driving need to have service providers meet lower and lower latency metrics.
“Perseus has taken all of the necessary steps through our operations unit in Brazil to ensure we meet the regulatory environments as a licensed facilities carrier,” Kusminsky added. “The Perseus connection from New York to Brazil is now optimized through custom built networks spanning from Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro and on through Sao Paulo, ideal for trading, broadcasting and the movement of big data.”

I wrote this book because making collection calls seems to be the scariest part of being a bill collector. Some people still ask me how I could even make these types of calls and say they never could. As someone who has made thousands upon thousands of debt collection calls as a credit manager and first party collector and as an agency owner and third party collector, I wanted to share what I know about making these calls so that you can improve on your calls. To take the fear out of it, just remember that making a collection call is like making a customer service call.
You are calling about a problem with the account and you just want to resolve it. You will learn what common excuses people give and what you can say to them in order to keep the call moving in the right direction and not going off track. You will learn how to notice a red flag with an account that you are calling and be able to avoid disaster by taking specific steps based on your knowledge of what is happening with that particular account. This book will help anyone who owns a business and needs to call customers that are past due.
It will help accounts receivable clerks who make calls to delinquent accounts; it will help credit managers who make collection calls or “your account is on credit hold” calls. This book will also help collectors who work for a third party collection agency. This book is meant to be a guide for bill collectors. I have shared with you actual and specific steps I have taken in my years of doing collection work that have worked well for me.
I have found that when making collection calls and dealing with excuses, you must be firm, tread lightly, have compassion and treat the account carefully. Treat the account (not the customer) like a child who needs your guidance and help to get this paid. This has worked very well for me and I have successfully collected more money than other collectors based on following these steps.

ShoreTel is the only UC provider to offer a choice of communication solutions and endpoints that optimise how users communicate in the work environment for maximum productivity by providing the best possible user experience.
“Whether a customer communicates with desk phones, smart phones, tablets, laptops or PCs, ShoreTel enables them to choose the device best suited to their needs,” said Pej Roshan, Vice President of Product Management at ShoreTel. “The ShoreTel 400 series IP phones incorporate the latest user feedback resulting in new functionality and optimal usability.”
Visual voicemail simplifies message management and increases productivity by allowing users to scroll through messages to access, listen, respond, delete and save them in any order. With this feature, users can pick the messages they want to listen to and erase or archive them right from the phone screen.
The intuitive user interface of the 400 series IP phones extends the proven ergonomic advantages of ShoreTel IP phones. Specifically, the display is closer to vertical for better readability with a five-way control for quick navigation through screens and menu options, and the keypad is closer to horizontal for more ease when dialling and using the function keys. The lighter handset offers more comfort and the phones have a smaller footprint for reduced use of space on the desktop.
“The feedback from our users has been fantastic,” said Todd Stone, CIO at QMACS, a ShoreTel U.S. customer. “The employees like the phone’s larger display, the tactile response of the keypad buttons and the increased number of buttons/lines. We believe the new functionality and enhanced usability will ultimately lead to increased employee productivity.”
Built-in diagnostic tools on the 400 series IP phones also enable help-desk staff to quickly identify issues and provide faster problem resolution, which means less downtime and higher user satisfaction.
Availability
The IP 400 series phones are available now for customers looking to install a new ShoreTel 14 system. The phones offer greater flexibility by supporting premise deployments at launch and ShoreTel Sky® services in early calendar year 2014. For customers who are considering an upgrade to their existing premises-based solution or a move to a cloud solution, the IP 400 series phones support either deployment model or a combination of both.

The new “Today” screen in the application integrates with the native calendar on Android and iOS platforms. The ShoreTel Mobility Client automatically displays conference calls on the mobile user’s calendar and allows for one-click access to web and audio conferences. A simple “Join” button automatically dials the specific conference call and enters the conference-participant code – freeing users from juggling apps whilst trying to memorise numbers and PIN codes.
“ShoreTel Mobility software is already a key tool for our mobile employees, and we are looking forward to using the new features, especially the innovative ‘Today’ screen that eliminates the complexity of joining conference calls when employees are on the go,” said Mike Segall, Director of IT Infrastructure at Flotek, a provider of specialty chemicals and production equipment using ShoreTel UC solutions.
ShoreTel Mobility 7 also integrates with ShoreTel Conferencing so that users can switch to the presentation view with a single click, which provides both audio and visual participation. When a user launches a conference from a meeting invite, the “Call Me” option opens ShoreTel Mobility, whilst clicking the link launches the ShoreTel Conferencing app.
Personal-dial support allows for non-business calls to be placed with the users’ cellular-caller ID through the ShoreTel Mobility app, eliminating yet another need to continuously switch back and forth between voice apps. Per-call selections are available in a contextually aware drop-down menu, which provides options for personal caller ID, Wi-Fi, or cellular.
“Enterprise end users expect mobile UC clients to be as intuitive and easy to use as consumer apps found on a wide variety of smartphones and tablets,” said Brian Riggs, Principal Analyst at Ovum. “This increases adoption of UC in the enterprise, helping businesses to derive the most benefit from their IT investments, whilst reducing training costs, resulting in a lower TCO of UC solutions purchased. ShoreTel Mobility 7’s rich set of integrated voice, conferencing and collaboration, presence, IM, and other features presents businesses with the communications tools central to successfully deploying UC.”
ShoreTel Mobility 7 also makes it easier than ever for ShoreTel’s distribution network of VADs, service providers and resellers to address the increasing demand from businesses of all sizes for a fully integrated ShoreTel UC solution.
“Our channel is a buzz of excitement with the customer interest in ShoreTel Mobility and the ShoreTel Dock (http://www.shoretel.com/products/ip_phones/ShoreTel_Dock....). With our latest software release, resellers can deliver a fantastic and intuitive experience for end users and IT administrators alike,” said David Petts, Senior VP of Worldwide Sales at ShoreTel. “As a result, customers are able to integrate leading smartphones and tablets securely, simply and cost-effectively into existing enterprise communication applications and infrastructure to provide greater flexibility and increased productivity.”
Availability
ShoreTel Mobility 7 supports more than 50 mobile devices across the Android, Apple® iOS and BlackBerry® (up through 7.1) platforms. The release includes enhanced integration with ShoreTel’s two UC platforms, premise-based and hosted, along with directory query integration and instant messaging whether a company is running ShoreTel, Microsoft® OCS or Lync® Instant Messaging and Presence Server (IMPS).
