GAITHERSBURG, MD: Patton (www.patton.com) is now taking orders for the new ForeFront™ 3310RC G.SHDSL.bis Premium Services Blade. Patton’s new EFM DSLAM rack-card enables carriers, service providers, businesses, governments and other organizations to leverage existing last-mile network facilities to deliver Ethernet services to subscribers (or internal users) as far away as 1.6 miles/2.6 kilometers—at speeds up to 22.8 Mbps.
In private networks, the FF3310 can provide Ethernet connections to such devices as wireless access points, IP cameras, perimeter security devices, industrial PLCs, weather-monitoring meters and many others. Today’s announcement comes just a few weeks after Ethernet marked its fortieth birthday.
“Ethernet is still expanding” said Johnnie Grant, Product Manager, “reaching far beyond traditional office installations and residential LANs. By extending the useful life of existing copper circuits Patton’s EFM technology preserves public or private capital investment. Our solution lets you maximize the long-term value of what you already have.”
"Patton’s solution is powered by the Ikanos Orion™ Plus chipset family," states Jon Black, Director of CPE Marketing at Ikanos. "For years our SHDSL platforms have been helping our customers leverage the embedded copper infrastructure with high-performance, long-reach solutions. The collaboration with Patton on the FF3310 platform demonstrates the value and market drive for EFM based services.”
Delivering symmetrical 5.7 Mbps per wire-pair, the 24-port EFM DSLAM rack-card provides sufficient IP-bandwidth for premium voice, video, and data services. Employing advanced 2BASE-TL technology, the FF3310 can bond up to 4 copper twisted-pairs to create a single 22.8 Mbps channel.
The 24-line FF3310 rack card is designed for installation in Patton’s cPCI ForeFront™ 2U/4U/6U chassis—scaling up to 312 links per 6U chassis. Manufactured in the USA at Patton’s Maryland factory and headquarters, Patton’s ForeFront brand indicates high-quality, reliable, carrier-grade communications equipment. ForeFront, like all Patton products, comes with Patton’s Gold-Standard Free Support at no additional charge. Patton’s Platinum Premium 24/7 Support is also available.
Equipped with four Gigabit Ethernet ports, the FF3310 makes it easy to segregate multiple private or public networks. Customers who want fiber-network connectivity may order the EFM DSLAM with two optional SFP slots.
Compliant with ITU-T 991.2 G.SHDSL, G.SHDSL.bis, and IEEE 802.3ah standards, the FF3310RC is fully interoperable with any G.SHDSLbis EFM-compliant CPE device—including Patton’s US-manufactured OnSite 3088A. Patton plans to release a standalone “pizza-box” version of the EFM DSLAM that will provide 24 bondable lines. The 1U rack-mountable FF3310P announcement is expected soon.
